I would recommend Pixlr for my students who are high
achievers, enjoy being challenged and are visual learners. These students could edit pictures in Pixlr
to use as illustrations for their narrative or informational pieces of writing. Pixlr can also be used for students who speak
different languages because Pixlr can be switched to another language once
inside the editing page.
This is a great program that can teach students basic
photography editing including cropping pictures and adding designs to
pictures. Students can even change
colors in their photograph. They can use
the photographs to illustrate their stories.
Students can edit pictures before putting them into a slideshow. They can draw on pictures and add text. With those tools, they can create a whole
story using Pixlr.
This is probably the third or fourth time I've heard Pixlr recommended, so I'm going to have to develop a unit for my Integrated Tech class to use it. I've also noticed they have an iOS app for it.
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions for how it can be used in the classroom Mindy! Thanks for the heads-up! -Jim
Agreed, Jim. I will have to find a way to incorporate this app as it seems to be popular and highly recommended. Mindy, great ideas for using this tool with writing, and also for helping ESL learners. I think this would be a great help in Spanish class, too, and will recommend it to my school's Spanish teacher. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

Pixlr is something I too intend to incorporate in my technology.
